ASID INDIANA COMPETITION
I was given a 40,000 sq.ft. space, project requirements, and told to pick a culture and create a cultural center. I picked Japanese culture. I spent countless hours researching and trying to learn as much as I could about this culture from the food, the way of life and traditions. I took the knowledge that I learned and created Shinrin Yoku Japanese Cultural Center. Shinrin Yoku meaning "Forest Bath" in Japanese was the inspiration for this space, in creating a Zen yet modern center with elements of nature. Japanese motifs and symbolism is shown throughout Shinrin Yoku. This is a space for people of all ages, sizes and abilities. As of now I have been selected one of the five projects to be submitted to the competition from IUPUI.
